Paarthurnax
Delphine orders you to kill the dragon Paarthurnax on the Throat of the World. You can simply ignore the order, and the quest drops away when the main questline ends.
- Questline: Main Quest – Act III
- Given by: Esbern or Delphine
- Reward: Dragon soul, bones and scales; free access to Sky Haven Temple
- Where: Sky Haven Temple
How to start
Consult Esbern at Sky Haven Temple after Alduin flees, or let Delphine start it when the Season Unending council is held.
Can be missed
Killing him cannot be undone and permanently ends the Greybeards' help. If you refuse, the quest is withdrawn when the main questline ends, but it returns if you kill him later.
Good to know
Kill him: Arngeir cuts you off, so no more word wall locations or new shout meditation bonuses, and High Hrothgar's goods count as stolen. Spare him: Delphine and Esbern stop talking to you, so no Dragon Hunts with the Blades, and Sky Haven Temple's goods count as stolen.
