Skyrim Shouts Checklist – Every Word Wall Location
All 27 shouts in Skyrim with their three Words of Power: where each word wall stands, which words are taught by quests and which can be missed.
Animal Allegiance
Calls the wild animals nearby to fight on your side for a while.
- Raan (Animal): Word wall at Ancient's Ascent, a dragon lair in the mountains south-west of Helgen.
- Mir (Allegiance): Word wall in the treasure chamber of Angarvunde, opened by helping Medresi Dran clear the ruin.
- Tah (Pack): Word wall on the hilltop above Ysgramor's Tomb, at the top of the stair that leads out of its last chamber.
Aura Whisper
Shows the life force of every living and undead thing around you, even through walls.
- Laas (Life): Word wall at Northwind Summit, a dragon lair on the mountain north-east of Shor's Stone.
- Yah (Seek): Word wall in the last chamber of Valthume, behind the Dragon Priest Hevnoraak.
- Nir (Hunt): Word wall in the Elder's Cairn of Volunruud, a door that opens with the two ceremonial weapons found in the barrow.
Become Ethereal
Turns you to mist for a few seconds: nothing can hurt you, falls included, and you can hurt nothing.
- Feim (Fade): Word wall in the throne room at the end of Ironbind Barrow.
- Zii (Spirit): Word wall at the top of Lost Valley Redoubt, beside the waterfall where two hagravens hold a ritual.
- Gron (Bind): Word wall in the great cavern of Ustengrav Depths, at the foot of the waterfall.
Call Dragon
Calls the dragon Odahviing to fight beside you. It only works under the open sky.
- Od (Snow): Taught during The Fallen, when you learn the name of the dragon to trap.
- Ah (Hunter): Learned together with the first word during The Fallen.
- Viing (Wing): Learned together with the first word during The Fallen.
Call of Valor
Calls a hero of Sovngarde to fight for you: a different one for one, two and three words.
- Hun (Hero): Given by Tsun in Sovngarde once Alduin is defeated.
- Kaal (Champion): Given together with the first word at the end of Dragonslayer.
- Zoor (Legend): Given together with the first word at the end of Dragonslayer.
Clear Skies
Blows away fog, storms and bad weather for a time.
- Lok (Sky): Taught by the Greybeards at High Hrothgar during The Throat of the World.
- Vah (Spring): Taught together with the first word during The Throat of the World.
- Koor (Summer): Taught together with the first word during The Throat of the World.
Disarm
Tears the weapon out of an opponent's hands. Stronger enemies need more words.
- Zun (Weapon): Word wall at Eldersblood Peak, a dragon lair in the mountains south of Morthal.
- Haal (Hand): Word wall in the last chamber of Silverdrift Lair.
- Viik (Defeat): Word wall in Snow Veil Catacombs, on the way through during the Thieves Guild quest Speaking With Silence.
Dismay
Sends weaker enemies running in fear.
- Faas (Fear): Word wall on the summit of Dead Crone Rock, where the hagraven Drascua keeps her altar.
- Ru (Run): Word wall at Lost Tongue Overlook, a dragon lair in the mountains south of Riften.
- Maar (Terror): Word wall at the heart of Shalidor's Maze, the walled garden on the north side of Labyrinthian.
Dragonrend
Forces a dragon to feel mortality, dragging it out of the air and pinning it to the ground.
- Joor (Mortal): Learned through the Time-Wound at the Throat of the World, by reading the Elder Scroll there.
- Zah (Finite): Learned together with the first word during Alduin's Bane.
- Frul (Temporary): Learned together with the first word during Alduin's Bane.
Elemental Fury
Makes your weapon swings faster for a time. It does nothing for enchanted weapons.
- Su (Air): Word wall at Dragontooth Crater, a dragon lair in the far north of the Reach.
- Grah (Battle): Word wall inside Shriekwind Bastion.
- Dun (Grace): Word wall a short way uphill from the Statue to Meridia, north-east of the shrine.
Fire Breath
Breathes a blast of fire that burns everything in front of you.
- Yol (Fire): Word wall in the last chamber of Dustman's Cairn, during the Companions quest Proving Honor.
- Toor (Inferno): Word wall in the last chamber of Sunderstone Gorge.
- Shul (Sun): Taught by Paarthurnax at the summit during The Throat of the World.
Frost Breath
Breathes a blast of frost that hurts and slows whatever it hits.
- Fo (Frost): Word wall at Bonestrewn Crest, a dragon lair among the hot springs of Eastmarch.
- Krah (Cold): Word wall in Folgunthur Crypt, past the last fight of the ruin.
- Diin (Freeze): Word wall at Skyborn Altar, a dragon lair in the mountains of Hjaalmarch.
Ice Form
Freezes enemies solid for a time. They thaw as soon as they are struck.
- Iiz (Ice): Word wall in the underground glade of Frostmere Depths, at the end of Frostmere Crypt.
- Slen (Flesh): Word wall at Mount Anthor, a dragon lair in the mountains south-west of Winterhold.
- Nus (Statue): Word wall near the end of Saarthal, just after the chamber of the Eye, during the College quest Under Saarthal.
Kyne's Peace
Calms the wild animals nearby so they neither attack nor flee.
- Kaan (Kyne): Word wall in Ragnvald Temple, behind the sarcophagus of the Dragon Priest Otar the Mad.
- Drem (Peace): Word wall in the main hall of Rannveig's Fast. Mind the trapdoor set into the floor in front of it.
- Ov (Trust): Word wall at the end of Shroud Hearth Barrow, past the door that needs the Sapphire Dragon Claw.
Marked for Death
Weakens the target's armour and drains its health for a full minute.
- Krii (Kill): Word wall at Autumnwatch Tower, a dragon lair in the mountains of the Rift.
- Lun (Leech): Word wall in the main cavern of the Dark Brotherhood Sanctuary near Falkreath, which only opens to those who join the Brotherhood or come to destroy it.
- Aus (Suffer): Word wall in Forsaken Crypt, the last chamber of Forsaken Cave.
Slow Time
Slows the world to a crawl around you while you move at close to normal speed.
- Tiid (Time): Word wall on the outside ledge at the top of Hag's End.
- Klo (Sand): Word wall in the last hall of Korvanjund, behind the throne. The way in is opened by the Civil War quest The Jagged Crown.
- Ul (Eternity): Word wall deep inside Labyrinthian, passed during the College quest The Staff of Magnus.
Storm Call
Calls down a lightning storm that strikes everything under it, friends included.
- Strun (Storm): Word wall on the battlements of Forelhost, outside the chamber of the Dragon Priest Rahgot.
- Bah (Wrath): Word wall in the last chamber of High Gate Ruins, behind the Dragon Priest Vokun.
- Qo (Lightning): Word wall on the upper terraces of Skuldafn, on the way to the portal.
Throw Voice
Throws a taunt to a spot some way off, drawing enemies toward it.
- Zul (Voice): Word wall on the mountain top at Shearpoint, guarded by a dragon and the Dragon Priest Krosis.
- Mey (Fool): Learned together with the first word at Shearpoint.
- Gut (Far): Learned together with the first word at Shearpoint.
Unrelenting Force
A wave of force that staggers what it hits and, with all three words, throws it through the air.
- Fus (Force): Word wall in Bleak Falls Sanctum, at the end of Bleak Falls Barrow.
- Ro (Balance): Taught by the Greybeards at High Hrothgar during The Way of the Voice.
- Dah (Push): Taught by the Greybeards once you bring back the horn in The Horn of Jurgen Windcaller.
Whirlwind Sprint
Hurls you forward faster than the eye can follow. Good for gaps, traps and closing on archers.
- Wuld (Whirlwind): Taught by the Greybeards in the courtyard of High Hrothgar during The Way of the Voice.
- Nah (Fury): Word wall in the last chamber of Dead Men's Respite, behind King Olaf One-Eye's tomb.
- Kest (Tempest): Word wall on Volskygge Peak, the summit above the ruin, guarded by the Dragon Priest Volsung.
Drain Vitality (Dawnguard)
Drains stamina from what it hits, then magicka and health as well as you add words.
- Gaan (Stamina): Word wall near the far exit of Dimhollow Crypt, passed when you leave with Serana at the start of Bloodline.
- Lah (Magicka): Word wall among the open ruins of Arcwind Point, in the mountains south of Ivarstead.
- Haas (Health): Word wall on the frozen lake of the Forgotten Vale, defended by the twin dragons Voslaarum and Naaslaarum.
Soul Tear (Dawnguard)
Tears at the target's soul. If it dies within two seconds its soul fills a gem, and with all three words its body rises to fight for you.
- Rii (Essence): Taught by Durnehviir the first time you summon him in Tamriel.
- Vaaz (Tear): Taught by Durnehviir the second time you summon him in Tamriel.
- Zol (Zombie): Taught by Durnehviir the third time you summon him in Tamriel.
Summon Durnehviir (Dawnguard)
Calls the undead dragon Durnehviir out of the Soul Cairn to fight for you. It needs open ground to land on.
- Dur (Curse): Taught by Durnehviir near the Soul Cairn's exit at the end of Beyond Death.
- Neh (Never): Learned together with the first word after Beyond Death.
- Viir (Dying): Learned together with the first word after Beyond Death.
Battle Fury (Dragonborn)
Enchants the weapons of your allies so that they strike faster for a time.
- Mid (Loyal): Word wall in the last chamber of Vahlok's Tomb, reached at the end of the quest Lost Legacy.
- Vur (Valor): Learned together with the first word in Vahlok's Tomb.
- Shaan (Inspire): Learned together with the first word in Vahlok's Tomb.
Bend Will (Dragonborn)
The first word cleanses the All-Maker Stones, the second bends people and creatures to your will, and the third tames a dragon to ride.
- Gol (Earth): Word wall at Saering's Watch, read during The Fate of the Skaal.
- Hah (Mind): Taught by Hermaeus Mora in Apocrypha during The Gardener of Men.
- Dov (Dragon): Taught by Hermaeus Mora in Skaal Village at the end of The Gardener of Men.
Cyclone (Dragonborn)
Throws a small whirlwind forward that tosses enemies into the air.
- Ven (Wind): Word wall in the Great Hall of Benkongerike.
- Gaar (Unleash): Word wall in White Ridge Sanctum, the last room of White Ridge Barrow.
- Nos (Strike): Word wall in Kolbjorn Barrow, uncovered as the dig goes deeper during the quest Unearthed.
Dragon Aspect (Dragonborn)
Once a day, wraps you in spectral dragon armour: harder power attacks, more armour, stronger shouts and, with all three words, an ancient Dragonborn who appears to help when your health is low.
- Mul (Strength): Word wall inside the Temple of Miraak, passed on the way down during the quest of the same name.
- Qah (Armor): Word wall in Bloodskal Barrow, reached through Raven Rock Mine during The Final Descent.
- Diiv (Wyrm): Word wall in Apocrypha, on the climb to the summit during At the Summit of Apocrypha.
