Elder Knowledge
Track down an Elder Scroll: borrow rare books at the College of Winterhold, visit Septimus Signus in his outpost, then cross Alftand and Blackreach to the Tower of Mzark.
- Questline: Main Quest – Act II
- Given by: Paarthurnax
- Reward: An Elder Scroll
- Where: Tower of Mzark
How to start
Paarthurnax gives it once he explains that Dragonrend needs an Elder Scroll; talking to Esbern or Arngeir first is optional.
Can be missed
Finishing Septimus Signus' quest Discerning the Transmundane without taking the Elder Scroll from the Tower of Mzark can leave the Scroll out of reach and this quest stuck. Take it on your first visit.
Good to know
If you already hold the Elder Scroll from Discerning the Transmundane, this quest completes by itself once The Throat of the World is done.
